What is IPC-6013?
IPC-6013 is the qualification and performance specification for flexible and rigid-flex printed boards. It defines requirements for materials, conductor geometry, plating, markings, and inspection by performance class.
What is the difference between IPC-6013 Class 2 and Class 3?
Class 2 covers dedicated service electronics where continued performance is desired but not critical. Class 3 covers high-reliability products where continued performance on demand is critical, with tighter acceptance criteria — typical for medical, automotive and industrial builds.
Does static or dynamic flex change the specification?
Yes. Dynamic (repeated) flexing usually calls for adhesiveless polyimide, rolled-annealed copper and a larger bend radius, while static (flex-to-install) applications can use a wider material set. State the flex type on your RFQ so the stack-up is designed correctly.
